Privacy policy

RailSprint is a free, non-commercial personal project operated by SiteInSeven. This policy explains what happens to data when you use the site, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The short version

We do not ask for your name, email address or payment details, and we have no user accounts. We do not sell data to anyone.

What we store on your device

• Essential storage. Your saved journeys, recently viewed stations and your cookie choice are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot read them.
• Analytics cookies (optional). If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to measure aggregate usage such as page views and which stations are popular. Analytics only loads after you accept; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics requests are made.

Analytics detail

We use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode. IP addresses are anonymised by Google and we have advertising features and personalisation switched off. Google acts as our processor; data may be processed outside the UK under the UK addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. You can withdraw consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Train data

Live running information is requested from Realtime Trains through our own server. Those requests contain the station or service you are looking at, but no identifier for you. We do not log your searches against any profile.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you on our servers, there is normally nothing for us to export or erase. You can clear everything RailSprint has stored by clearing site data in your browser. You have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing of your personal data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

What RailSprint is

RailSprint is a free, non-commercial personal project that presents live British rail running information. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by National Rail, Network Rail, Realtime Trains or any train operating company.

No guarantee of accuracy

Train times are supplied by third parties and are provided on an as-is basis with no guarantee of availability or accuracy. Times shown may be forecasts rather than reported actuals, and they can change without notice. Always check with the train operator or station staff before travelling, and do not rely on RailSprint where missing a train would cause you loss.

Data source and attribution

Live running data is provided by Realtime Trains. Use of that data is subject to Realtime Trains' API terms, which permit personal, non-commercial use only. RailSprint accesses the feed through a server-side proxy so that no API credentials are exposed in this application, and it does not poll excessively or bulk-extract data.

Acceptable use

• Use RailSprint for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
• Do not scrape, mirror or resell data obtained through this site.
• Do not attempt to place unreasonable load on the site or its upstream feeds.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RailSprint and SiteInSeven accept no liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
